Engine Reliability
The N20 replaced the naturally aspirated N52 in 4-cylinder applications. It offers excellent performance but is plagued by a critical timing chain issue. The chain tensioner and guides wear prematurely, potentially causing catastrophic engine failure. Oil pump failures also reported. Always check service history for timing chain replacement.
